Support
We’re here to help with ChaloChat.
How to get help
- Check the questions below — most answers are here.
- In the app, open the Settings tab and tap Help & legal to contact us. You’ll find your app version there too.
- Or email us at support@downthecove.com. Please tell us your app version, your iPhone model and what happened.
Never send us your password, an invitation code or your private conversations. We will never ask for them.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete my account?
Open the Settings tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. Type DELETE to confirm and tap Delete my account. You are signed out once our server confirms the deletion. This removes your account and takes you out of every chat, and it can’t be undone. Copies of messages already delivered to other people stay on their phones.
A parent can delete a child’s Kids account from the Kids account screen in their own app.
If you can no longer open the app, email us from the address or phone number linked to your account and we’ll help. See our Privacy Policy for what is deleted.
How do I block someone?
Open your chat with them, tap their name at the top to open the chat info, and tap Block. You can also block someone from their profile. Blocked people can’t message or call you. To see or undo blocks, go to Settings › Privacy › Blocked.
How do I report a message, person or group?
Touch and hold a message and tap Report, or open the chat info and tap Report. Choose a reason. You can choose whether to include the message (or the last few messages) with your report — only what you include is sent to us, because we can’t otherwise read your chats. You can also block the person or leave the group at the same time.
In Mehfil, tap the menu on a post, comment or reply and choose Report.
If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (999 or 112 in the UK) first.
I’m not getting notifications
- Check that notifications are allowed for ChaloChat in your iPhone’s Settings › Notifications › ChaloChat.
- In ChaloChat, open Settings › Notifications and check that message and call alerts are on and that Quiet hours aren’t silencing them.
- Check the chat isn’t muted: touch and hold it in the chat list, or open its info.
- Focus modes and Low Power Mode can delay or hide notifications.
- If you’d rather not show message text in alerts, turn off Show message preview in Settings › Notifications.
Calls aren’t connecting or there’s no sound or video
- Make sure ChaloChat can use your microphone and camera: iPhone Settings › ChaloChat.
- Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data. Calls need an internet connection; switching between networks can briefly pause a call.
- Make sure both of you are on the latest version of ChaloChat from the App Store.
- If calls don’t ring, check Quiet hours in Settings › Notifications and that the chat isn’t muted.
- If the problem continues, close ChaloChat fully and open it again, then contact us with your app version.
Are my messages private?
Yes. Your private chats, the photos, videos, voice notes and files you send in them, and your calls are encrypted on your phone before they leave it, so we can’t read or listen to them. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
I got a new phone. Will my chats move over?
Your chat history is kept encrypted on your phone. If you turned on Settings › Storage & backups › Chat backup, an encrypted copy is kept in your own iCloud, locked with a backup password only you know. On your new phone, sign in to the same Apple account and ChaloChat account, open Chat backup and enter that password to restore. Without a backup, or without the password, older messages can’t be recovered, because we never have a readable copy of them.
